Welcome to UKM-Global Student Mobility Partnerships

Dear friends,

I am CK, the person who will be your guardian and companion for the duration of your stay in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Malaysia for some of you. My main duty is to see to your safety, needs and comfort so that you will have a good experience to take home. In order for me to my job well, I would welcome suggestions from you. As a start, could I have ideas on how you would want your opening ceremony to be? I am looking forward to reading your ideas.

  3. Yup...I agree that we would like to know the details first before we could give out some ideas for the ceremony. Or it depends on our ideas how the ceremony go and where it will take place?

  4. Hi, I'm a student from Australia.

Regarding formal/informal, I feel a mixed approach would work well. With the informal aspect allowing for the students, staff and other related parties to 'mingel' and begin to form those bonds which will, no doubt, help optimise the overall experience of the program.

  7. Triple agree. Haha...Yup since our program is not just dealing among us but others people as well, then the informal part could strengthen the new bond that we are going to have. I guess we just waiting CK to give us some respond.

  8. I guess the ceremony shouldnt be too elaborate and too formal, less protocol, more ice breaking, maybe a short, picturesque multi-media presentation of the overall programme would be nice, and lots of food and drinks (soft of course).

  10. Hi, I am a student from America and the only one as it appears.

Personally, I am looking to leave behind as much of my culture as possible. For me this is going to be a whole new world unlike anything I have ever encountered. With that being said leave all of the Western formalities for us when get back to our native countries but while we are there immearse us with your culture, show us everything you can and teach us everything you know. :)

I was also wondering if there was any more detailed information about the activites during the month. Maybe something that has dates and times, because I know there have been some changes with the summit climb being cancelled :(

Don't worry so much about making sure everything is fun...A rule of thumb for me is if it is new its going to be fun, atleast once :)

  11. Dr. Phil, for your info actually all of you could get the full schedule of the programme through email. I'm not sure whether the foreigner students get it from your guardian but at our side (malaysia) we get the schedule. My schedule start from registration day, maybe the foreigner students start from the date you all depart. Anyway if anyone still wan the schedule from me u could e mail me at bzgirl_313@yahoo.com. Pls tell me who you are....^_^

  12. Dear all, although the climb to the summit is cancelled, the climb via the Timpohon-Mesilau trail wont be dissapointing because the views and landscapes are better than the those of the main trail. As you probably know, many have climbed but couldnt reach the peak because the weather is so unpredictable up there. The point is, it is not the peak that matters but the journey towards it...hope this helps.
